I went to Lords on 20th July to watch the last ODI between the England and New Zealand women. The weather was hot and dry. England won the toss and elected to bat first.
Here Sarah Taylor defends the first ball of the match
The England team watching from their balcony
England were losing wickets fast and here is our captain Charlotte Edwards about to get caught by Lucy Doolan
Jenny Gunn tips the ball to Devine for a catch
Lydia Greenway batted well and later was excellent in the field. She got the "Player of the series" award
Katherine Brunt giving it everything
The pink scoreboard shows the numbers at the end of England's innings
During the lunch interval we could walk on the playing surface. It was nice to have the opportunity to take a front on photo of the pavilion
Tending the pitch. The women had the dead centre track for once
The scorecard shows the rather low runs scored by some of the England players. This match was going to be tight
Lucy Doolan can get high scores but here she was bowled by Katherine Brunt for 16
These two scored over 100 between them and turned the match in NZ's favour
McGlashan scores the winning four for NZ
England did win the series 3-2 and Charlotte Edwards receives the winners trophy
Time for a champagne celebration
It was an enjoyable day despite England's loss. They were unable to make the most of the many run out chances on this occasion.
It seems that they are heading to Sri Lanka later in the year and then on to Australia. I do not know how you get the details of these upcoming tours and my efforts have failed. I will be in Australia through their summer and hope to watch some more entertaining cricket.
