Eng v NZ fifth ODI

I went to Lords on 20th July to watch the last ODI between the England and New Zealand women. The weather was hot and dry. England won the toss and elected to bat first.

Lydia Greenway batted well and later was excellent in the field. She got the "Player of the series" award

During the lunch interval we could walk on the playing surface. It was nice to have the opportunity to take a front on photo of the pavilion

Lucy Doolan can get high scores but here she was bowled by Katherine Brunt for 16

 

These two scored over 100 between them and turned the match in NZ's favour

England did win the series 3-2 and Charlotte Edwards receives the winners trophy

It was an enjoyable day despite England's loss. They were unable to make the most of the many run out chances on this occasion.

It seems that they are heading to Sri Lanka later in the year and then on to Australia. I do not know how you get the details of these upcoming tours and my efforts have failed. I will be in Australia through their summer and hope to watch some more entertaining cricket.

Pakistan v Australia

Went to watch day 3 of the test match at Lords.
The weather was dull and damp for a lot of the day so only a couple of photos. The match was delayed for a while when rain took off the players.
It looks like Australia should win this with two days to go and a big lead, but you never know.

2nd ODI

New Zealand went and won this one, so that is one each so far in the five match series. England won the toss and elected to bat first. NZ did outplay the England team today.
I will miss the next two matches but will be at Lords for the last one

I had not seen Danielle Hazell play before, but was impressed with her attitude and application. Unfortunately here she has just been dismissed

We scored a total of 208 but could not get control of the match when NZ were batting and maybe the ball was not bouncing for us today.
I normally support the NZ team when they are playing any other nation but England.

In Taunton for a few days holiday with my youngest daughter.
We went to watch the first ODI between the England and New Zealand womens cricket teams. It was a warm and mainly sunny day.

New Zealand were batting first and were soon piling on the runs

 

Hours later, England looked as if they might win at 221 for 7 with Charlotte Edwards scoring well

Only 7 runs required but our girls starting losing wickets fast

 

Yet another wicket has fallen but Katherine Brunt bravely takes us over the winning line.

A really enjoyable day that was tense at times. Cider, pasties, sunshine, lager, and fresh air in copious amounts has given us the incentive to return on Monday for the second One Day International between these teams.
