Domestic cricket final

I went to watch the Clydesdale Bank 40 over series final at Lords on Saturday.

The nearest station is St Johns Wood and there is time to get a coffee at The Beatles coffee bar.

An old Routemaster bus came by.

The match was between Somerset and Warwickshire with the start at 3pm. Warwickshire won the toss and elected to field.
The sun was out and rolled up shirtsleeves were necessary to keep cool.

Somerset batted very well to start with but then there was a batting collapse at around the 30th of the 40 overs.

When Warwickshire came into bat they made a slow but steady start. They always remained within reach of the required run rate. As the match was coming to the end, an inspired batting display by Ian Bell made sure that Warwickshire got the required runs and won the match. The game was never predictable and you felt that it could have gone either way. So an interesting match ended at around 9pm by which time it was beginning to get a bit chilly.

On the Sunday they completed some work on my local canal and decided to flood one section by letting some of the upstream locks overflow.

I have just got an attachment for my camera that lets me photograph old colour slides. Here are a couple. Firstly a Heron aircraft on Alderney after my first ever flight.

A steam crane being used to help repair the Braye breakwater.
